Integrating refugees through its own operations and supply chain

Chobani has been a pioneer in refugee integration, successfully hiring and integrating refugees into its operations in New York and Idaho. So, becoming an UNSTUCK partner and encouraging suppliers to hire refugees was a natural next step for the brand.

We first worked with suppliers hiring refugees in Peru to create the Chobani x UNSTUCK Tropical Fruit Yogurt. We’re now expanding the program to include suppliers across Chobani’s supply chain with operations in refugee-hosting countries.

And, inspired by the UNSTUCK initiative, some Chobani suppliers proactively started hiring refugees. We hope to accelerate this halo effect across Chobani’s entire supply chain!

Finding a new world-class supplier driving vital social change in Colombia

We connected with Petit Pot at the perfect time. Having tripled its revenue over three years, Petit Pot’s team was looking for ways to expand their social impact and triple their bottom line. They were also looking to diversify their suppliers, including those for the brand’s core ingredient: cocoa.

At the time, we had just started working with Colombia’s leading cocoa and chocolate producer, Luker Chocolate, to include refugee talent in its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy and hiring programs with the help of our implementing partner, Cuso International.

Soon after we connected Petit Pot and Luker, it became clear that supporting refugees wasn't the only thing they had in common. Both companies hold the highest standards for creating the best quality products . Petit Pot was thrilled to find a like-minded, values-aligned supplier through the UNSTUCK partnership. And Luker was equally excited to find a strategic customer in Petit Pot, a rapidly growing brand in the US.

Petit Pot’s partnership with Luker has been so successful that it now sources from Luker for all its cocoa-based products and is exploring other opportunities to encourage refugee hiring with existing and new suppliers.

Adding simple criteria for simple ingredient sourcing

That’s it. is loved for making products with easily recognizable, simple ingredients - and they wanted to find a way for sourcing those ingredients while having a broader social impact. So when we approached That’s it. to become a partner - our approach and mission resonated, and they immediately started working with us to find ways to support refugees through their supply chain.

Although the That’s it. team has hired refugees in the past, they were interested in expanding their hiring efforts in the future… and a new supplier in Peru offered them the opportunity to do just that. It also gave them access to the tastiest mango they had sampled in months. The new supplier soon became the supplier for That’s it. ® and their UNSTUCK™ Mango Probiotic Fruit Bars. Since then, we’ve connected the supplier with UNSTUCK's implementing partner, HIAS, to help in their efforts to hire more refugees and offer additional long-term growth opportunities within the company.
